Title: Too loud system sound
Post by: MrPTkruzer on September 14, 2014, 04:43:24 AM
After recording few videos with my friend, I realised that first there was no system sound. After playing with audio settings, I put another device (system audio). When I tried to make some test videos it occured that the mic was almost silent and the system sound was normal. After tweaking settings the situation changed. I had heard the mic normally but the system audio was almost unheard. please help!  ;)

Dxtory doesn't control the volume, Windows does.

If you set 50% System Volume and record that, you need to listen to that Recording at 100% System Volume and 100% Media Player Volume to make it sound as it did when you played.
It's basically a mess, but not really a problem.

The thing you should look at is to make the Mic volume be as high as possible Without clipping occurring at normal speaks (High yelling is something that will always peak and clip).
What i mean with this is basically, look at the Volume Meter, make sure it never goes Full when you speak like you are doing when playing etc.

System Volume can be whatever, the higher the better, but you can always change it afterwards when editing (Avisynth makes this possible without really "editing").
Same goes for Mic, but Clipping can't be restored, so basically a Mic volume will preferably not be changed, as the chance are very high they have peaked at some point, and therefore increasing volume will only make you lose information. (There are some way around this, dynamic compression, but it's not something i would really recommend).

Hope this makes some sense and helps you:)

Avisynth is sadly a bit complicated in the beginning.
But do like this, get Avspmod (It's a GUI for the script interface) : http://files.line0.in/builds/AvsPmod-2.5.1-r426-x86-04874ed.7z (http://files.line0.in/builds/AvsPmod-2.5.1-r426-x86-04874ed.7z)

Extract to some folder you want it at.

Then you can open it and it will look like "notepad" if you will.

Now, what would you like to do with Avisynth, simply stuff is something that can easily be repeated when you get the heck of it.
