Title: 1440P Recording
Post by: Fish on October 07, 2014, 02:57:46 PM
I'm about to purchase a 1440P monitor. Is Dxtory capable of recording at 2560x1440? If so, can I expect a drastic change in the performance hit vs 1080p recording?

afaik, dxtory can record whatever resolution your codec of choice can support.

for instance, packbit codec http://exkode.com/packbit-specs-en.html (http://exkode.com/packbit-specs-en.html) says

QuoteMaximum Resolution: 16384 x 16384

I'd assume dxtory's own codecs go to atleast that as well, lagarith, utvideo codec, x264 or whatevers might have a cap a bit lower, no idea. But I'd assume atleast 4k is supported by those.

But yea, 2560x1440 is about 1.7 times 1920x1080, so you'd probably start to require 70% more disk space + cpu resources required by your codec of choice.
