Hello
I've been using Dxtory for roughly a year now and the file sizes were getting to me and decided to look for an alternative option
I started out with lagarith lossless video codec and recently onto MagicYUV codec as they had received some very good reviews
I will say that I do not feel the same way as whenever I record with any codec other that the standard Dxtory codec I run into issues
The issues include:
1) Windows media player rejects the file and claims it cant play the file (Windows Media Player error C00D11B1), this issue has only recently arisen where the media player can only rarely play the video (Note that it does occasionally decide to play the video) which kind of confuses me that it changes its mind constantly
2) (this runs at the same time as 1, i.e. whenever the file cannot be played this also happens) AVImux rejects the video for extraction. I eitehr drag and drop the video into the window or search for it using AVImux's own search window and nothing appears in the field (occasionally though a loading bar appears for a brief period of time but quickly dissappears)
3) Windows live movie maker selects random videos to highlight as corrupted and cant be used in the video however when I close the prorgram and add the same videos in the same way a different selection of videos are highlighted as corrupted
----------------
This issue has been persistent as long as I have used any other codec than the default one but I would like to stick with a codec that outputs smaller file sizes if at all possible
For reference my PC is the Alienware Aurora R4: http://www.dell.com/uk/p/alienware-aurora-r4/pd
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
I found Motion JPEG to be awesome quality and size wise. I do use another brand for that as they have their own version of the codec.
I think DXtory should look at using it as I can record 170 Mbps which looks amazing on a normal 7200rpm hard drive even at 1440p 60 fps.
