Title: GTA V crashing randomly
Post by: Jarzka on May 24, 2015, 06:22:26 PM
Hi

On my machine GTA V crashes randomly after 1-5 minutes of gameplay. Windows event log has the following information:
Faulting application name: GTA5.exe, version: 1.0.350.1, time stamp: 0x5540c256
Faulting module name: nvwgf2umx.dll, version: 9.18.13.5286, time stamp: 0x55515e04

I googled around and got two kinds of answers: update graphics driver or shut down dxtory. While the first option did not help much I noticed that shutting down dxtory solved the problem, at least the game did not crash on 1 hour of gameplay.

I'm currently using Dxtory 2.0.127. I tried 2.0.128 but it still crashed randomly.  I also tried 2.0.129 but with it GTA V crashes instantly when I launch it. This happens even if I use Delay Hook.

EDIT: I was able to test 2.0.129 if I launched Dxtory after the game but it did not help: random crashes still occur :(

After I turned Dxtory overlay completely off I was able to play the game one hour without crashing issues. So it seems that Dxtory overlay is very likely the source of the problem.

While it is possible to use Dxtory and record videos without the overlay, it is a bit trickier since you cannot see the output FPS orrecording status. I think there should be an option to have an audio effect telling that the recording is started / stopped. :)
