Title: New Overlay
Post by: ExKoder on October 06, 2015, 04:11:17 PM
Overlay design is scheduled to be changed.
Isn't there a suggestion?

new feature
Several layouts
2 sizes or scaling
Video Length
File Size
Bitrate
Bottleneck warning

By Bottleneck warning, we hope that becomes easy to determine bottlenecks. :D
You can find easily which is slow, GPU, ENCODE or Storage.

The following image is for 4K resolution.
It is not yet implemented for 2K.

AWESOME! Can't wait :)

Will we be able to toggle parts of those on/off? Personally I don't care of bitrate or filesize. Record FPS and length is all I need.

edit: clock would probably be nice to have in the overlay. I know I could have a clock on my desk, but ... I don't :)

edit2:

Actually, any possibility of having the overlay info in fewer lines?

I mean, instead of

fps
recfps
reclength
...

there would be option to have something like this:

fps | recfps | reclength | ...

Hopefully it is not asking too much :)

I hope that we will be able disable that extended version or choose in options what will be displayed.. We could have option for vertical | horisontal position ..
I would like to see clock with actual time too
Is bitrate = disk transfer? In Mb, MB, MiB ?

These features are excellent and what we needed.
Would be nice if we could customise the overlay by toggling on and off some of the features.

I have to say that I really look forward to these updates to the overlay.

I am most excited about the record time addition, but I can see uses for the others as well. I may not have need for file size information, but I could see it being used if one is running low on space on their recording drive, or even with the larger file sizes from 2k/4k videos. I must admit that I had never thought about displaying bottlenecks in the overlay, but I can see it as being really nice for finding the source of recording issues.

how about remaining disk space

filesize counter is always helpful. MSI Afterburner has it already and you can detect with this if the HDD is fast enough in writing data, because if the counter has pauses, then you know the HDD was too slow. It has to count continously.

remaining disk space would be cool too.

and reclength of course very helpful.

All of these ideas are wonderful, can't wait for it to come out. :D

I cant wait either. Hope development is coming along well.

Edit: Is their any way of checking for bottlenecks as of now? or will we have to wait?

Edit 2: Also Being able to position each of these settings in different quadrants of the screen wilh different colors, transparency's and size would be something awesome.

Well, for me the recording FPS drops when the HDD is the bottleneck while overall FPS drops when it's the CPU/GPU.

That would certainly be amazing, I fully concour!

Oh I like that!

I am using a stopwatch app to see how long my recordings are. I would love to see the video length on the overlay. Bottleneck info would be even cooler to determine what's causing my recording to be so bad. Nice image, but I hope I can scale down the number sizes, they seem to be too big right now (for my taste).

By the way, do you know why DxTory doesn't work on Rainbow Six Siege? I asked here (http://forum.exkode.com/index.php?topic=1823.0) but no-one could help me yet. Had to use another solution (Afterburner) but I'm not very happy about that.

Having the ability to scale the overlay text would be amazing! Maybe even the ability to enable/disable overlay features. The ability to change font type/color would be nice too. Altho most user would most likely leave it as default.
