Title: Horrible recording Frame Rates
Post by: ButcherBoy on November 15, 2015, 04:34:50 AM
So i just got Dxtory yesterday and ive mainly followed the guidance of a video that Jackfrags put on his Youtube Channel expectt that i am trying to record in 30FPS at 1280 x 720 res. I have a Lenovo y510p so its not powerful enough to get the 60fps at 1080p.

When recording i get my usual frame rates and it tells me im recording at 30fps, however when i watch the video after wards its no where near 30 fps.

Ive done everything i can think of. Im recording to an external hard drive, im running an Matrox Codec. Ive even tried using only half (4) of the CPU processors but that just records nothing. Ive tried recording at 60FPS but thats still glitchy and ive tried altering the speed the codec records at from 250mbps to 150mbps but that caused nothing to be recorded.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try using the default Dxtory Codec @ low or medium. The Dxtory Codec & magicYuv always seemed the most stable to me.

Your laptop's hard disk speed is not up to speed. Run a benchmark on your hard disk in Dxtory and see if it hits at least 70mb/s write speed. 250mbps setting is way too fast. Even my crappy desktop video card Nvidia gtx 760 with old kepler architecture maxes out 50mbps on Shadowplay. Bump it down to 50mbps or lesser and see how it goes.

I see you are using Matrox and running on bitrate-based quality control. Your video will not be lossless. Dxtory default codec and MagicYUV are lossless and it will require a hard disk with a faster write-speed than Matrox's.

Thanks alot matw this worked a treat! I lowered it to 75mbps, the same as the hard rive im recording on and i can now record at 60fps whilst still playing at 60!
