Title: I need to use mp4 as i am on windows 10, how do i do this instead of avi?

Hello,

I am willing to record in .mp4 because on windows 10 .avi files don't work, but i do not want to use a application to conver files, the reason i got dxtory is because i was told that you can use mp4. please help, any help would be appreciated thurely!

.avi files works with my Windows 10 perfectly.
That saying, if you still want to record in .mp4 container, you have to look for other software such as OBS or Bandicam. Dxtory only offers .avi file output.

why does everyone say avi does't work as i found out, windows movie player wont play it, niether movie maker it says it is corrupt :/

.avi container was introduced by Microsoft since the dawn of time. So it is has been always supported in all its OSes. Good chance is that your codec might be corrupted during your Windows 10 installation. Have you tried downloading VLC or MPC? They come with all the necessary codecs and might even resolve your issue.
