Title: FPS Drop Assistance
Post by: khat17 on April 10, 2016, 08:00:47 AM
Let's try this again.

Hi all.

I'm having an issue where I lose a lot of FPS in games when using DXTORY.

I posted this information already and it appears as though my thread was deleted. Why? I don't know. *EDIT* Seems like the forum shows me a preview first and I have to hit the "post" button a second time. My apologies.

I'll probably post some more information later on, but the games I've tested with are CS: Source and UT: 2K4.

In CS: Source without recording I get 180+FPS. During recording I drop to like 33FPS. Does not go up to 40FPS at any time. This doesn't change regardless of which partition/hard drive I use.

Screenshots are below. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The screenshots are nice, but all that info is in the logs.  Please post any you have.

You could also try 30fps capture + lagarith in YV12 as they show in this video

I had it attached previously when I didn't hit the post button twice. Here it is.

*EDIT*
I assume the difference is the resolution / scaling. Once I have it set at 1280 x 720 I get ~45FPS regardless of the codec settings based on some quick tests.

*EDIT*
Set at 30FPS and 1280 x 720 I get 30FPS recording. The in-game FPS drops down to about 53FPS - is there no way to reduce that any more? I get like 180+FPS without recording going.

Since you have win 7 I would try a clean install of an older version and see if that helps at all.

Try 2.0.128

Also, while testing, if you know how to use hardware monitoring software ( msi afterburner or hwinfo ) check to see if either cpu or gpu usage are maxed out during recording.
