I've tried recording with Minecraft, using Dxtory and it works fine but it doesn't work with the sims 4. I see lots of other people using it for that game but it won't work for me. Any ideas on how I can get it to work for the sims 4?

Turn off Origin's overlay.

Open up Origin's in-game settings and turn it off, duh!
I'm not using it currently, so my best guess is: Origin > Application Settings > Origin in Game > Uncheck "Enable Origin in game"
By the way: Google can show you some magic tricks too, if you ask nicely.
