Hello, I have the exact same problem as this guy here: http://forum.exkode.com/index.php?topic=744.0
sometimes working fine, sometiems this bug happens when it wont stop recording and the end file is unusable if i close either the game or dxtory in order for recording to stop
The only difference is I am not in a laptop. I am at a desktop computer

hvae you tried other codecs? like magicyuv or utvideo? Lagarith hasn't received and updates since 2011, it is entirely possible it is causing the issue.

since as the changelog (https://lags.leetcode.net/Changes.html) from 2011 says:

Fixed a crash that could occur when the source video buffer is not aligned to a multiple of 8 for 32 bit systems. The issue still exists for 64-bit systems

it could be that every now and then when you try to stop the recording, said alignment issue happens and the codec crashes. You could try with the 32bit Lagarith if the issue persists, but reading the changelog I'm not sure if that helps, since it mentions 64bit systems
