Title: Not Starting Up
Post by: collateral on November 05, 2016, 05:02:43 PM
For about a week now, i have not been able to launch DXtory. I launch it, and it gives me a Windows prompt asking me if I want to launch it, I put yes, but then nothing happens. I went into my program files to launch it, and it still did not work. I can still open the rawcapconv.exe and the dxtoryvideosettings.exe, and they come up just fine, but not the main executable. Please some help. Thank you.

Uninstall and reinstall it ?  There should not be a command prompt during launch.

I'm having the exact same issue with my Dxtory. I understand how to uninstall it but how would I go about reinstalling it? I have saved a copy of my license of the software but on the website I only see a download for the setup and an option to buy? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm confused on how to get a new copy without rebuying it.

I have reinstalled it a couple of times. Trying different versions as well and still does not seem to work. I dont want to delete my settings and information because i dont remember how i set it up and it took a while to do it. Is my setting the problem and am i gonna have to end up deleting them when uninstalling? Also, I have it so that every program i run prompts me.

@dani7beth

Uninstall like any other program and then reinstall with DxtorySetup from here ( try latest version first )
http://exkode.com/dxtory-downloads-en.html

If you choose "clean install" during installation you will lose all settings and need to have your license file handy to re-register.

@collateral

We don't know what changed on your system, so at least give us some details to work with :

1.  What version were you on when it stopped working ?
2.  Have you tried the old old stable version  2.0.128  ?  ( If this version loads, post your environment log )
3.  Did you change or install new security software ? Windows updates ?  Remove any virus / malware recently ?

It may help to post your bootlog and errorlog as mentioned here
http://forum.exkode.com/index.php?topic=2.0

** If you backup EVERYTHING in the folder with bootlog, you can try a clean install to rule out a profile / setings issue **
( Your Dxtory settings reside in the "Profiles" folder )

If you can't run the main program, then we can't get a full report ( environment info ) so instead you can post your dxdiag info

I am not actually sure what version it was on. This was the first time I launched DXtory in like over 3 months. It ran well and told me there was update for 2.0.140. So I updated and it stopped launching. Went back to 2.0.128 without deleting my settings and it worked just fine. I would like to use an up to date program though. Nothing done with my computer recently, not even Windows updates. Do you want me to post bootlog for this old version that is working or for 2.0.140, which is not working?

1.  Post Environment log from 2.0.128 ( attach to OP ), then update to 2.0.140

2.  Next goto the data folder for dxt
QuoteC:\Users\(USER NAME)\AppData\Local\Dxtory Software\Dxtory2.0\

3.  Rename the BootLog.txt & ErrorLog.txt to something else  ( ex.  Bootlog2.txt ,  ErrorLog2.txt )

4.  Start dxtory and see if it generates a new bootlog and errorlog.  If it does, attach to a reply or to the OP.

Just put Env Log from 2.0.128 on original post. Here is the boot and error log from 2.0.140. When trying to launch 2.0.140, I did not see Dxtory in task manager, but I did see that the Update Checker for it was running, but not popping up anything. After changing the error log and boot log file names, I launched Dxtory. Still did not launch and the Update Checker was in my tasks again. No new error log was created, but here is the new bootlog that was made.

I didn't spot anything strange in your Environment file, so here are a few things to try in order of severity :

1.  The latest stable 2.0.136 is worth trying if you haven't already.

2.  Did you check your security software to see if it is blocking Dxtory ?  Do you have any software included from the factory such as : msi Nahimic,  Asus Sonic Radar, or anything like that ?

3.  Backup your Dxtory data folder ( the one with Bootlog & Profiles ) and then delete ALL files in it; then try starting a recent version of Dxt.  If Dxtory loads, then you know it was a profile issue.

4.  If none of the above work, it may just be Windows issues , such as with this thread :

If you want to see if updates are the cause, search the linked thread for the phrase "Rollback Windows updates"
