Title: Dxtory handle UHD (3840x2160) 30 fps Recording??
Post by: GonzoGG on February 21, 2017, 09:17:52 AM
Hey guys, I just got my new 4k computer up and running and have been wanting to record my native resolution (3840x2160). Everytime I try, I get !ENCODE and only record at about 19 fps. I am using lagarith lossless codec. Do I need to use a different codec?

PC SPECS
CPU - i7-6700k oc to 4.8ghz
GPU - Titan X (pascal)
RAM - 16gbs 3000mhz corsair vengeance
STORAGE - 1tb samsung 960 EVO (recording to this), 3tb seagate barracuda HDD (game is on this)

!Encode means that the codec isn't just performing fast enough, so its dropping frames. Try MagicYUV or UTVideo Codec?

Hey thanks for the suggestions! The Utvideo codec seems to be able to handle it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrHeMVFdctI

Little warning: Consumer SSDs are not meant to be written to all the time, the cells deteriorate. A RAID0 of two decent HDDs will last much longer.

Oh yea I am plenty aware. Mine has a pretty good lifespan and by the time it is about to reach its limit, it will probably be time to upgrade anyway. As of today, I have written 2.3TB. I do have to say that my 4k videos are very large. My most recent recording I just rendered was abotu 30 mins and 377 gbs.
