Title: Games crashing when starting
Post by: vycedryke on November 17, 2013, 04:26:12 AM
So I heard about dxtory from a friend and thought I'd go ahead and try it. However, after trying several games with it, I've had every single one crash the moment I start to record with dxtory and I'm having trouble finding any reason for this after searching the internet.

I've tried different video codecs, have run it without the sound recording, I've tried different folders, the stable version of dxtory and the latest version and they have the same issues. Video drivers are up to date.

If a problem occurs in all the games, I think that Dxtory is not a cause.
Are other programs the causes?

It's possible. I just turned off startup, ran Win7 in diagnostic mode, safe mode with everything turned off. Strange thing is that none of the game error logs seem to notice it, and the Unreal Engine games (which keep pretty useful log files) has no mention of the crash. The only sign of my computer noticing the crash is in the Event Viewer.

This is where I tried to record with XCOM: Enemy Within:

Faulting application name: XComEW.exe, version: 1.0.0.926, time stamp: 0x524b2164

Followed by this error, it doesn't matter if I use my newer SSD or my older HDD.

2. If the file still cannot be accessed and
   - It is on the network, your network administrator should verify that there is not a problem with the network and that the server can be contacted.
   - It is on a removable disk, for example, a floppy disk or CD-ROM, verify that the disk is fully inserted into the computer.
3. Check and repair the file system by running CHKDSK. To run CHKDSK, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK. At the command prompt, type CHKDSK /F, and then press ENTER.
