Title: Recorded video lags - No ingame lag - High end PC
Post by: Sypher on November 22, 2013, 02:58:06 AM
I am using Dxtory to record CoD: Ghosts footage, i don't get any lag when i am recording but when i watch the videos afterwards i run into a problem.

When i watch the recorded videos they tend to freeze and crash what ever media player i am attempting to watch them in.

Windows Media Player will freeze the video for a number of seconds but you will still be able to hear audio, then the video will skip forward to where the audio is up to. Sometimes the program will completely crash instead of skipping forward.

The problem is not just WMP, if i attempt to watch the video through Sony Vegas Pro 12 it will freeze in the same spot and crash the software, the same happens for Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.

I am on the other hand able to successfully export the video to mp4 without either program crashing, but the freezing still occurs in the exported mp4.

I use Lagarith Lossless Video Codec.

I have uploaded some examples to youtube.

This video was recorded in 1080p @ 30fps, some info can be found in the video description
The video freezes just after 20 seconds.

PC Specs:

CPU: i7-3770
GPU: Nvidia GTX660
RAM: 16GB
Mobo: Z77-Extreme6
PSU: 750W
HDD1: 120GB SATA3 SSD (Game installation)
HDD2: 120GB SATA3 SSD (Game record location)

This video was recorded today in 720p @ 30fps on my new PC. The CoD video settings are in the video description.
The video freezes just after 25 seconds.

PC Specs:

CPU: i7-4770 Haswell
GPU: GeForce GTX770 DirectCU II OC 2GB
RAM: 16GB DDR3
Mobo: Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H
PSU: 750W

My record location has a write speed of 538MB/s (2x 120GB SATA3 SSD's in Raid 0) so that is not the problem.

Here is my Environment Info

The phenomenon is frame drops.
Storage is the cause.
It seems then that speed decreased for some reasons.

Please change a cache seeting (Write-caching policy) of the storage.

I have disabled Write Caching on the SSD i record to and it seems to have fixed the issue.

Thank you very much!
