Title: INIT error, no available audio codecs that match my headset?
Post by: Samstorm on January 12, 2014, 12:15:57 PM
So i'm getting the init error and I checked out the specs on my headset: 16 bit 48000hz 7.1 surround, however all of the 7.1 surround options are 32 bit in the default dxtory formats. Anybody know of any audio codecs that have 16 bit 7.1 surround formats?

7.1 surround are usually only for speaker set ups unless your headset actually has 7 speakers inside then theres no reason to need to record in 7.1  because if you're uploading to anything people wont hear it because most likely they'll just have a 2.1 set up or 2.0 speaker/headphone set up

If you do use some headset that says "7.1 virtual surround" then its useless to try to enable this in dxtroy because the "7.1" in these headsets is a useless gimmick done by software not actual multiple drivers in the headset so no matter what you listen to if you have some razer headset or something its just up mixing like emulating 7.1 and theres no reason to record your 7.1 surround because you think your viewers will hear it they wont it'll probably sound worse and distorted like some sounds not there or only the sound coming from the "front speakers" in a actual 7.1 set up.
