If we could just have the MP4 format already available that would be nice. Then we wouldn't have to be worried about getting a bug. Plus now we can record more since were not downloading something.
Clarify what do you mean by a "bug". And what do you mean by "since were not downloading something"?
It may be that he is thinking of "MP4" as an encoded file, already encoded and done so to speak.
If you do, then it's not, MP4 is simply a Format, .AVI,.MKV are the same, they are only containers, they can contain anything that's allowed.
MKV can probably contain anything you can think of for normal use, AVI is robust and you can pretty much hack your way there to force much as well,
MP4 is, if my memory serves me, like MKV but outdated, it supports fewer formats and features.
Personally, if a Container would be added, i would want .MKV, it's streamable, have all the features needed, and is pretty robust.

If it's for YouTube purpose then YouTube will re-encode the video to .MP4 either way.
