ive already made a folder for the videos to record in and i cant find any troubleshooting videos or pages please help!

But I kept trying and try and when it finally started recording..... it would stop until I restarted my game

i had the same problem like you.
In my case the problem was that my Hotkey, for example F12, was already used in the game, like opening menu or something else.
It looks like DxTory has sometimes a problem with this.
So try to set a hotkey like this: ยด, or an other grope wich isn't used jet, and then tell me the result :)
