Hello
So I have searched around here on the forums and wasnt finding the information I was looking for. Just to kind of go over what my main objective is I do my editing on Final Cut Pro and to limit having to convert the audio before editing. Currently I record with Lame MP3 as the selected audio but Final Cut Pro will not read this code, i have tried installing a codec on the mac side but does not seem to change this.
I have seen in others setups and screen shots of settings that there is a: MPEG Layer-3 Codec in most peoples setup for audio codecs. I do not have this option in mine.
My question is how can i get MPEG Layer-3 Codec as an option to record to and/or is there a way to record straight to AAC as on the Mac side that would be more convenient as well.
Any information is appreciated, please let me know if you need anymore information from me.
Thanks

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. If I left out any information needed please let me know.

Sorry for the lack of support, but I prefer to be quiet if I'm not specialised in the area where the question is orientated. Your question regards Mac, I'm strictly Windows user. The fact why Final Cut Pro doesn't support your desired codec should be taken up to Apple forums.
May I ask why are you not satisfied recording audio with default PCM audio codec?
I am using windows and am having the same problem with h264 and other codecs I have installed to try out. Only UTvideo and Lagarith codecs show up in Dxtory's drop-down list. Is there a way to force Dxtory to see installed codecs or add them to a config file or path for Dxtory?
I was making video with Afterburner but spent money on Dxtory after hearing how well it records. Well, it records great but the formats it supports do not work with YouTube so I feel pretty frustrated at this point and am wondering if I was ripped off. Dxtory is great for watching videos in DivX or Windows Media Player but VLC, YouTube, and Avidemux can't work with them at all due to the very few codecs that Dxtory will 'see' and add to the config options.
There has to be a way, but I can't find it and have been searching for days. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

replied you on other thread (http://forum.exkode.com/index.php?topic=983.msg3849#msg3849) about the codecs, but, few extra things to mention here:
1. you bought software without evaluating it first? wat?
2. dxtory is geared towards advanced users who do not just record & upload without editing. Also, if you record commentary with game audio, you would still need to manually mix the audiotracks together, as youtube does not support multiple audiotracks as of yet.
3. vlc does not use system installed codecs, it uses it's own built in ones. dxtory/lagaarith/utvideo etc codecs are not very common outside the scope of video capture, so there is no real support for those in vlc. Same goes for youtube. No idea about avidemux though.
4. as far as I know, having divx is not recommended with dxtory. apparently it messes up something related to .avi containers systemwide.
Thanks! I uninstalled DivX. I'll see what that accomplishes. After searching for which codecs are supported by Handbrake I am using Lagarith and I can work with that although I am going to keep trying to get Dxtory to recognize H264 rather than recording in Lagarith, mixing the tracks with AVIMux, and converting in Handbrake. At least I can get videos up with Dxtory.
And yes I evaluated the recording capabilities of Dxtory before buying, but I failed in not processing and uploading a watermarked test recording. It looked great in Windows Media Player and so many people recommended it that I went for it and yes it was a bit hasty. As you observed I am new to this whole process and Dxtory is an entry point for me. It is hard to evaluate well when one does not even know the details of the process yet.
Thanks for your knowledge but your attitude is a bit snarky - kind of distracting.

Sorry. Upon reading my posts I agree, the tone is a bit... yea. I could have taken few seconds to read them to myself (http://xkcd.com/481/) to check such things. :)
Codecs can be 64bit. Dxtory is 32bit. 64bit codecs don't work with Dxtroy.
Thanks folks.
Malix - I do the same from time to time, so no hard feelings from me.
Regarding the 64-bit incompatibility issue - The file I downloaded was not the 64-bit download and it installed into the WOW64 emulator folder and x86 program directory rather than the regular /Programs folder I believe is the default for 64-bit programs. I think the error may involve 64-bit compatability but I have discovered that Handbrake works with Lagarith and Handbrake is using x264 just fine so I am using that as the final process and it works well enough that I am not bothering to track down the issue getting Dxtory to recognize x264. Thanks for you help - maybe someone down the line will benefit or take it further.
