Title: Directshow Output instantly crashes every game I try to use it on
Post by: JarekBloodDragon on September 07, 2014, 11:47:00 PM
This is a problem that I have had FOREVER and it's getting extremely infuriating. There are no errors. I press the hotkey so I can stream, a few seconds pass, game stops responding, and closes. Dxtory does not crash or even give an error. Here's the weird thing. If I use V2.0.114 I can stream perfectly fine. Any version after this causes crashes. You might say "well then just use the version that works" and that's what I've been doing. Problem is, that version does not attach itself to some games like Doom 3. Which I want to stream with some mods but can't because dxtory causes it, like every other game, to crash. If I try to record to my HDD the program works perfectly fine.

To further add to the frustration. I can't even run v2.0.127 or v2.0.128 so I have no idea if those versions would have this issue or not. When I try to run those versions I instantly get an error and Dxtory won't open.

"The exception was generated in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Dxtory\Software\Dxtory2.0\Dxtory.exe". Refer to "C:\Users\name\AppData\Local\Dxtory\Software\Dxtory2.0\Dxtory_log.txt" for details."

I have seen this error posted before but never once have I found a solution posted.

I'm primarily looking for a fix on the streaming bug. A fix for both problems would be fantastic though.

It's very likely you are experiencing this issue because you are using extremely outdated version of Dxtory. You must focus on trying to find solution to your updating issue.

If you receiving errors when you are trying to install latest Dxtory version then try to (re)-install Microsoft .NET Framework (http://www.microsoft.com/en-ie/download/details.aspx?id=17851). If that won't help then try installing Dxtory on a different Hard Drive.

This is actually the complete opposite problem. The older versions of dxtory DO work with streaming. Specifically any version of 2.0.114 and before that works. Any version after this crashes my games.

QuoteIf you receiving errors when you are trying to install latest Dxtory version then try to (re)-install Microsoft .NET Framework (http://www.microsoft.com/en-ie/download/details.aspx?id=17851). If that won't help then try installing Dxtory on a different Hard Drive.

I've already tried both of these things. Same problem persists. I don't receive errors when installing the latest version of dxtory. I get an error when I try to open it after it installs.

When I try to run v2.0.128 I get no error text at all. Instead, I get this in the dxtory_log.txt

=== 2014/09/07 23:35:45 ===
[Module]
Dxtory.exe 2.0.128

[Process]
ID: 4480

[Thread]
MainThread (1)

[Error Message]
The type initializer for 'bz' threw an exception.

[StackInfo]
   at es.a(Object A_0, StartupEventArgs A_1)

When I go to stream and the game crashes. Once again I get no error log or any thing saying there's an error. No txt file, no error pop up. The game just stops responding and closes. That's it.

Normalize OS, and use a legal license file.
The cause which cannot use ver2.0.128 has not become clear.

I DO have a legal license file. Here's the email with private information removed. http://i.imgur.com/sfghxBY.png As for normalizing os. That doesn't help me at all. Like I said, I've seen this posted many times to the forum but never saw a solution posted. The game crashing I'd like to find a fix to more.

Is this issue exclusive only to the "streaming" feature? Does it happen when you try to record gameplay into a "video file"?

Yes, it's exclusive to the streaming "direct show output" feature. If I record the program works fine.

Just to check.

FFDShow or something similar aren't perhaps interfering?

I don't believe so. I typically use the lagarith loseless codec. It crashes when using the standard dxtory codec as well.
