Extreme Lag where Fraps Doesn't?

I love DXtory but it only seems to work in some games..  for example in 7Days to die it's horrible also in Outlast I get FPS that make the game pretty much unplayable and unable to get a good recording.. A program like Fraps excels in these games with minimal FPS loss though from my understanding Dxtory is normally a "better/faster" program. I really need help with this please. As I love the AviMux features and such..
But right now Dxtory is only good at recording "smaller" games like Starbound and Terraria.

Also this lag happens when I'm not recording... just if Dxtory is in the background. If I hit "record" it gets worse... so it seems to be an issue only related to Dxtory being open.
Also note that this exact problem happened with my Radeon HD 6800 series card and is also now happening with my new GTX-770.

I investigated.
As for this game, the hook is not performed normally.
Although Steam overlay and the game itself hook, it has collided with them.
Currently, there is no solution.

Well that makes no sense as a buddy of mine has Dxtory and a pretty similar set up (if anything my specs are all better than his) and he has no problems with Outlast and Dxtory working together. So it's not a game based issue.

Have you tried increasing or reducing the number of threads?

Although just having DXtory open should not be influencing anything,  unless for some reason the FPS limiter is being applied even though it is unchecked (doubtful but who knows?).

Thanks for the reply...  yeah tried 0 threads tried 4 tried 6 since I have six and nothing.. just lags. My buddy has outlast and can play it without issues.. even though on his Error log he gets the same error message.. yet he has no issues.
