Hi,
My name is Ken and I have been using fraps for the longest time. After getting my new PC, I decided to try out Dxtory. For the games I have tried it on, It has seemed to be working great. However for some reason, when I try to record Minecraft, my file and in-game fps drop to a steady 13 FPS.
Does anyone else have this issue?

I am running a Windows 8.1 pc with a FX-8320 (Overclocked to 3.9 GHZ) and 8 GB of ram.
I am also recording to a second 500gb hard drive. - http://gyazo.com/0e631deb9b9d3678037df8faacd0379c

I have also tried different codecs and still seem to be no good.

You haven't mentioned the most important component, your graphics card.

Oh sorry. I have an XFX R9 280. Pretty much can handle most games on Max Settings.

There's a pined thread that talks about the catalyst 14.x drivers.  might wanna check that out.

Thanks for the reply

I have looked over that, however on my old laptop I still had an AMD based system with the 14.X Catalyst and it was able to record minecraft onto its main hard drive with dxtory at an almost perfect file frame rate.
My friend also has an AMD based desktop and records Dxtory to his main drive with no problems.

If it doesnt work, I could just continue to use fraps. I can record 60fps with fraps on almost all of my games without any issues.
But I was just figuring if I could get Dxtory to work, I would have more options for customization, less file sizes and more games I could record.

Thanks
-Ken

From your description it's pretty much a guarantee you are experiencing the AMD Catalyst issue. Downgrade to AMD Catalyst 13.12 and your issue with Minecraft will be resolved. Currently there is not other solution to this issue. Here's the direct link for the drivers you need to install: AMD Catalyst 13.12 - (Windows 8.1 x64-bit).

This issue doesn't necessarily affect "all" AMD Catalyst 14 users. Sometimes it's a free pass, sometimes it isn't. But drivers are clearly the issue.
