Record is lagging (framedrops) while game is smooth

Hey folks,

(tl;dr - version at the bottom)

I was using FRAPS a long time without any problems to record games, until Dragon Age Inquisition was released and... let's say, 15 minutes for a loading screen is a bit to much.
Since I recently bought a new PC I tried NVidia's Shadowplay and I was amazed due to the small size of the files and the fluent recording. However, the quality is not as amazing as it could be and the record got asynchronous, sometimes.
So I decided to give Dxtory a shot since I heard so much good about it. I downloaded it yesterday and wanted to try the trial first before buying a license - and I have to say, this has been a good decision.

So, what's the problem?
I want to record a game while playing and cut the video with an audio file in my cutting program, export, render it with MeGUI and upload the final video to my YouTube-channel. Now I realized that I'm not able to record properly with Dxtory since the framerate drops every few seconds - and we all know that lag is eviliest to happen to us. I could understand the game being slow due to... something, my system should handle it, I guess, but the thing is - My game is running smooth, constant 60 fps (according to the left of the two numbers displayed by Dxtory and any other program).

I've tried about five different games, at least as many different codecs and two hard drives but nothing seems to work, the recording is lagging awfully. I don't want to take down the quality, though, since that's the reason I want to use Dxtory.

My framerate dithers somewhere between 25-60, relative to game and engine, but none of the tests I did got me an acceptable result.

Here's a list of games/codecs/drives/settings I used (and can remember)

Games:
- Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons
- Dragon Age: Origins (mainly)
- Drakensang
- Hearthstone (this one was pretty smooth, but that's not that relevant since I won't want to record this and the game doesn't need that many recources)
- Middle-Earth - Shadow of Mordor
- Risen 3 - Titan Lords

Codecs:
- Dxtory Video Codec (both low and high settings, with the latter even the game's fps dropped to ~47, but I'm not sure aout the quality of the loew settings - and one of them with compress disabled, I think)
- FRAPS Video Decompressor (well, at least I tried, with it selected the program crashed)
- Lagarith Lossless Codec, the much recommended - YV12 and multithreading activated
- MagicYUV lossless video codec v1.1 (32 bit) (All supported, YUV 4:2:0 (and 4:2:2 I think), Rec.709, 2-4 threads (8 with auto-detect), dynamic and predict left)
- UtVideo YUV420 BT.709 VCM (3 divide frame count, predict left)

Drives the recording goes to:
- Seagate Barracuda 3TB ST3000DM001 (my drive I record to since I got my new PC; mainly used for videos, but since my C: isn't kind of small I installed a few games on it to save space)
- Intenso 3,5" Memory Center USB 3.0, 2 TB - WDC WD5000AAKX (external USB 3.0 drive with backups (system and old videos), my drive I recorded to with my old PC with FRAPS)
Of course I tried different games while recording, which are not on the same drive as I'm recording to. Although it's not working well...

Dxtory Setting:
- Key Frame Rate: 15 (I believe it's set by the codec used, at least I can't edit this one)
- Quality: 100 (same as above)
- Data Rate: 0 (same as above)

- Clipping deactivated (None, None, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0)

- Frame Rate: usually 60 - since YouTube added 60 fps recently. I want as much quality as possible, meaning 60 is a must, not 30 fps. If possible... However, on my last recording with 30 fps I got a little stuttering too...)
- File Output (Avi, RawCap doesn't seem to make a difference)

- Sync fps activated (I don't quite get the setting as I don't see any big difference...)
- Scaling: Percent, 100

- None of the adv. setting is activated (However, for the sake of completeness: Delay Hook: 5, Processing Threads: 1 by default, 2 with a few runs, Limit fps: 60)

My system:
- Intel i7 4770 CPU @ 3,4 GHz
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 4GB
- 16GB Kingston DDR3-1600 (2x 8GB) RAM
- Win 8.1, 64 Bit

Meh, I don't see any option to add a
text
BB-Code, that'd be much more overseeable...

Is there anything more I can say/give informations about?
I can only add that I don't have any problems recording with FRAPS or Shadowplay (regarding the framerate of the recording. Well, at least with shadowplay).
I'd really buy a Dxtory-license, but the current perfomance seems not to be the quality I want. Sadly. I hope it's not because I don't have a license (yet)? I wont buy a 30€-trial version to come to the conclusion it doesn't work well either.

And here's the unedited enviromnet information:

tl;dr:
The game is running smoothly, only the right number of the two displayed is very often/almost always lower than the left. Which is bad and I want to fix. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance and have a nice weekend/week/easter-stuff
