Massive Frame Drops and Overall Lag when Recording

Hey, so I just want to see if I can find a solution to this via forums.  Basically I have been using dxtory for years and never once had a problem.  However recently when I record my frames MASSIVELY DROP.  For example I will be getting 50 FPS in DayZ and then it jumps down to 24.  I have been trying to counter this by recording in a lower scaling (50%) but it is still resulting in low frames.  To see if this was just DayZ or not I attempted to record Dishonored to find the exact same thing happening.  Seeing how this has been happening for awhile now I really have no idea what's causing it.  Graphics Drivers maybe?  I have a GTX 680. Here is the Environment Information:

Your hard disk alone is not fast enough to handle recording 1920x1080 resolution @ 60fps while playing. Try playing the game in 1280x720 while recording 100% scale. If you still aren't getting consistent 60fps in a 720 resolution without recording, might as well go 30fps for recording and ease down the load on your hard disk a lot more.

I haven't been recording at 60 fps just 30.  MY HDD used to be able to do 30 no problem.  Perhaps I should just try a new hdd dedicated to only recording videos?

Ideally, yes. Lossless files are huge, so it requires a high writing speed. Dedicating a hard disk to recording avoids bottlenecking your game's performance on your main hard disk while recording on a separate disk. I have an SSD dedicated just for recording.

Thanks for the help, do you have any recommendations for codecs until I can get a new drive?
