First time ever making my own chart's and testing stuff, but I did not see this test anywhere else on net.

I also do not know were SPECIFICALLY to put this post on the forum (i chose Help because it got a lot more views than Feedback), so if an admin needs to move it, feel free to.

What Does AMFVFW do? Well it allows you to use the H.264 Encoder on your AMD GPU via the AMD Video Coding Engine (VCE). So you can offload the recording from your CPU to the GPU.

Recently AMD dropped OVE support in CCC 15.7 (and later), so now we need to use AMF. Luckily, I know the guy who wrote the codec for Dxtory"OpencodeVFW" and got a newer version of "AMDAFW" to test.

This codec is currently in its testing phase and only has one developer, so performance varied and be a little bit more, and was more unpredictable between tests, but all in all, for file-size -> quality comparison, it Wins, Hands down (IMO) compared to the other codecs.

So lets see how well this works compared to other popular codec.

Note:

Video quality between all 3 codec tested are excellent. Can not really notice between the 3. All set to "True quality"  or Visual Equivalent.

My Test Setup:
FX-8320e @ 4.21
R9 280 3gb
16Gb Gddr3 1600 Ram
Dxtory Ver. 2.0.133

I forgot to say the setting on the benchmark were as follows:

Quality: Very High, SSAA: On, Texture filtering: AF 4X, Motion Blur: Off, Tesselation: Very High, VSync: Off, Advanced PhysX: On

ps: If this helped, Please considering helping me and subscribing on my YT :)

I know it's a bit too late, but how's it working for you lately? What are the other options you used with the Codec?

I have not recorded a lot of gameplay recently, but in terms of streaming stuff, it works great.

Nice!

But what options are you using for? I also have interested for streaming, 720p@60. What are you using it with the codec to stream?

Thanks for the reply. I looked at your channel, I saw that bacon is more important then gameplay. And it should!!! :)

Streaming with Dxtory?
Isn't it better to use OBS in this case?

I use OBS also, but i use Dxtory to capture the video, and OBS to upload to my stream site.

I do not stream in high quality 720p. My internet upload speed just will now allow it. My settings are 720p@24fps for low motion games (like my war-hammer streams), so high motion games (like FPS) will look like garbage unless i drop to 480p.

Do you record at the same time as OBS, or you mean two completely different use scenarios?
Cause OBS can record and stream at the same time i think.

obs can, but i like the compression of dxtory AMFVFW better. That is why i set obs to take the video from dxtory instead of the game.

Really, i mean compare to OBS Studio - AMD VCE?
That's interesting was sure it was the other way around.
