Can't get Dxtory to hook Minecraft... or anything

I'm new and have no idea how to get Dxtory to see/target Minecraft, or anything for that matter.
I'm doing this for my son, but really am not familiar with what needs to happen. I hate to have spent $35 and not be able to get this to work. Thanks in advance. MV

Since the computer running Dxtory is pretty old and not on win10 you could uninstall the current version and install the older 2.0.128 version.

If that doesn't help, then we would need to see the errorlog ( it is in the same folder as the bootlog )

If there is any software running that adds overlays ( steam, discord, ect... ) or other capture software ( fraps, msi rtss  ), they can block game capture.
