Wolfenstein The New Order - Low FPS While Recording

First of all I'd to thank ExKoder for the new version of Dxtory which now works with Wolfenstein The New Order.

I'm happy that I can now record the game with Dxtory but I have noticed that when I do my FPS gets cut in half.
60 FPS when not recording, 30 FPS (and below) when recording.
This even happens when I record at 30 FPS instead of 60 FPS.

I love Dxtory because it allows you to play most games at maximum FPS while recording, so it's a bit annoying that I can't do this with Wolfenstein.

This might be due to Wolfensteins engine, in which case I understand that it can't be helped. But I thought I'd bring it to your attention, just in case.

Edit: Please ignore my external hard drives write speed benchmark. I don't think it is accurate as I have never had any problems recording gameplay to this hard drive.
Also, I should add that my FPS in Wolfenstein is still affected even when I'm not recording to a file and only using DirectShow output.

Here is my environment information.

P.S. In addition, I still can't record Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Game still crashes when I start recording. I think it might be something to do with the games engine and my AMD graphics card.

I'm sorry what now?... I hope this is simply interrupted benchmark because you won't record anything properly at that HDD speed (at least 70 MB/s is required for 1080p 30 fps). I don't know why I can record that old Wolfenstein game and you still can't. Maybe it's indeed is an AMD issue, since I'm Nvidia user.

As for New Order, this game simply demands too much. I have more powerful PC than yours and even I get average 30-40 fps while recording. I got a feeling this game is simply poorly optimized and might improve in couple of patches since I noticed it often drops below 50 fps even if I try to play at Low Graphics. I've also seen many threads on Steam Community Forums regarding framerate drops.

EDIT: Now that I check New Order doesn't even start for a lot of AMD users.

I have never had any problems recording games at on this external hard drive. I usually record at 720p and 30 fps.

Malix

sub 30MB/s disk and 1920x1080 @ 30fps? not happening unless you're using lossy codec.
My recording disk is about 100-120MB/s and I find it pretty much capable of 1920x1080@30fps with lagarith/UT Video on pretty much any game.

Please note where I said I usually record at 720p and not 1080p.
Although I have recorded at 1080p by mistake once and it seemed to be fine.
I can only guess that the benchmark was interrupted somehow.

Edit: I should add that my FPS in Wolfenstein is still affected even when I'm not recording to a file and only using DirectShow output.

Then verify it by going to Dxtory - Folder tab - click on Benchmark button beside your recording drive  - raise the test write size to 2000 MB for more accurate results - Run the benchmark - Tell us the resulting speed.

It seems internet is filled with angry AMD posts regarding New Order. Makes me feel lucky I'm Nvidia. I advice you to take a look at this thread, it has useful information regarding Wolfenstein New Order if you are AMD user.
Note: Your graphics drivers are quite outdated.

your evil twin

I'm having the same problem and dxtory reports that my hard drive has a write speed of 135MB/s. So the hard drive write speed isn't the issue. Also I have an nvidia graphics card with the latest drivers.

If I record Wolfenstein: The New Order at full 1080p I get about 19fps, while if I record at 720p I get about 23fps.

My processor and graphics card aren't the latest stuff, but usually when I record a game with dxtory it reduces the fps from 60 to 45 or around that sort of region.

This is the first game where FRAPS has outperformed dxtory, as with FRAPS I get a solid 30fps.

Uh, I don't think they are. I updated them this week. I have Catalyst version 14.4 installed.

Odd, your Dxtory report claims you have 14.1 installed. I suppose AMD uses two different versions for drivers and the catalyst software itself. Again, the basic mistake since I'm Nvidia user myself.
