Black Screen When Recording (Win 10)

I know that there are several other threads regarding this same issue and some of them have fixes that have worked for the original posters. I have tried all of those and still cannot get anything by my microphone audio to record. To specify the issue -- I can launch Dxtory and select any codec I want (experimented with Lagarith, Matrox, and Dxtory) and start up a game. I get the upper-left overlay in green and when I hit F8 (which is what I set for capture), I get the numbers changing to yellow-ish and an actual record rate. A .avi file is created in the directory that I specified but when I play it, it is all black and doesn't contain any in-game sound. It does pick up my microphone for the duration of the recording, though. Error log and Dxtory log both show blank afterwards.

I appreciate any and all help.

Here is my environment information:

A default player of win10 is the cause.

Vaelaar

Thanks for the quick response! So, do I need to delete... something? Windows media player?

Vaelaar

For what it's worth, it finally started working. The problem is, I changed so many things so quickly that I'm not sure which of them was the actual fix.

If I had to guess, however, I would say it was the following: In Windows 10, open the Xbox application and go into its settings. In settings there are two "tabs." One is for more general settings, and one is specifically for the Game DVR capability. Yes, I realize this is the Xbox app but the Game DVR handles recording the PC games as well. Go to that Game DVR tab and turn it off. I'm fairly certain that when I restarted after doing this, I was able to record my games in Dxtory without issue. (Note: If you start up a game and see the note to press Windows+G to open game bar or whatever, you didn't turn it off and need to!)

Now I just have to figure out if Voicemeeter is causing problems and making my audio crackle. :] Thanks all! Hope my response helps others.

I think it was something else, I tried that and I'm still getting files with corrupted bits.
