CANNOT EDIT VIDEOS
« on: February 28, 2016, 05:22:07 am »
I bought Dxtory yesterday and have sony movies studio 13. It crashes when I import any video from Dxtory no matter the codec. I am not downloading a file converter and just want to know how to fix this or what video editing software I can get to edit my dxtory videos. Thank You.

thats kinda weird. I use sony movie studio as well (v. 12 and 13) and dxtory files work just fine. (MagicYUV + PCM audio)

You should post your environment info (http://forum.exkode.com/index.php?topic=2.0) so we could see your settings. Maybe there is something funky in your settings.

This is not a new thing, as I've used Sony Vegas Pro 13 and it crashes when importing the .AVI file. I just want to make sure you know that .AVI is a file container, and it can contain many different codecs, I suggest you try what the other user posted. My files work fine in Sony Vegas 11. Both versions I have pirated, Sony Vegas 13, if purchased works fine, if you have the correct updates it'll work, but since my version is pirated it doesn't. For you to say your not downloading a file converter, I understand your hopes of not having to do that, but if you've to different codecs, the .AVI should have different encoders and decoders in it, meaning that all the ones you've tried aren't working. Therefore your best bet is a video converter, Handbrake works well.

If you are using the x264 codec you are going to have many issues working with the files.  Here is a screenshot of the settings i recommend using if you are not wanting to switch away from the x264 codec. Without these settings it is dam near impossible to edit the videos you capture.

All you actually need for your x264vfw codec to work properly with Adobe Premiere is the command line "--keyint 1" to prevent video artifacts, resulting in an increase to your output file size significantly. You can tinker around with the rest of the settings on your own to adjust the quality of your videos.
