I went and test several games with both Bandicam and Dxtory. I can confirm that yes, CS:GO does causes the videos to cut off after alt-tabbing. Both software does the same thing. I realised that only games that run on DirectX 9 WILL force a recording to stop after alt-tabbing.

Try some games that are known to run with DirectX 11, like maybe let's say, Ark Survival, Black Ops III or Dark Souls 2. They won't stop recording even alt-tabbing.

This seems like an issue on DirectX. Losing fullscreen focus on DX9 applications kills the recording.

Great find! Thank you. Rocket league stops recording for me but not for my friend, is it possible i can run games with directx 9 and he is using 11? Ill try out ark once im home, which is in like two hours. Is it possible to make all my games use directx 11? Csgo did not used to do this which is why i am asking if its possible to change it.

I doubt you can force many games to change their renderer to DX11. Rocket League is indeed DX9. Your friend might be: 1. using windowed/windowed fullscreen 2. using some other software like OBS.

Does he uses a similar setup and same software as you?

Tyler Serafin

Friend is actually someone I had been helping on here and he required further help, very very similar setup. We both have i7-4790k's aswell as GTX 970's he runs 8gigs of ram I run 16, he has 2 HDD's one SSD I have 2SSD's 3 HDD's. You get my point, he was using Dxtory, I forgot to ask if he was using windowed or borderless though.

Just tested it out in ark, still happened where I alt-tabbed and it stopped my recording, when I tabbed back in a new recording start, I then closed the game, so it obviously ended then. So i have two recordings. One for 21 seconds, and one for 4 seconds.

Not everyone has this problem and it's not a directx issue. What do I do to solve it?

Did you manage to ask your friend whether he runs borderless fullscreen?

I recorded the process using Bandicam fullscreen display while Ark is recording behind with Dxtory. Ark is running at fullscreen, not borderless. Doesn't appear to stop recording at all as you can see after alt-tabbing.

Tyler Serafin

Exactly my point, it doesn't stop recording for you, but it does for me. Therefore there's an underlying issue that is not with direct x.

@Tyler

Your log says you have dual monitors, so is the method I posted on the first page  ( reply #10 ) not viable for some reason ?
Even though dx11 games can produce only 1 file, I think dx9 is a lost cause.
Using Windows 10 ?  Try the latest version first http://exkode.com/dxtory-downloads-en.html

Well if not everyone has this issue, then I shouldn't have it. It isn't related to DirectX cause ARK doesn't work for me, but works for other people.
