Arma 3 + SLI & Nvidia Surround Low FPS

My system specs are:

Intel i7 3930K @ 4.7ghz
32 GB Ram
3 x GTX 680 4GB SLI
Resolution: 7680 x 1440 Nvidia Surround on 3 x 27" monitors

Issue:

At the resolution above, I am getting 50-60fps during play, but while using DXtory to record Arma 3, I cannot get more than 21fps, both in-game and recording. I have tried using different codecs ie: DXtory / Lagarith (multi-thread & null frames enabled) with various quality settings without any luck. I have also tried enabling the following settings in the Advanced Settings tab:

  • Force Down Sampling
  • Disable Delay Processing
  • Enable Synchronous Surface Lock

They have not made a difference.

I normally using Clipping so that I only record the center monitor, so I switched from Clipping to Margin, but again no difference. Also note that I have to use the option "Force Down Sampling" otherwise the output video skips every second frame. (Might be the AFR/2 SLI mode?)

Would appreciate an explanation in what is causing the low performance, and some advice in improving the fps during recording.

Environment Information and dxdiag attached below.

I think that Video FPS naturally drops if "Synchronize Video FPS" is used.

Thanks, I will try without it. But even though, I wasn't expecting a decrease in 50% in frames.

Edit: Tried without "Syncronize Video FPS" yielding similar results. Max 23fps.
Would you have any other suggestions? Is the slow down possibly caused by SLI or large resolution? Changing the Movie settings to 100% rather than record at 1080p seems to have improved it slightly, with maybe 1-2 frames gained.

Bump. Can you please respond exkoder. Thanks.

I have low FPS while recording when i have either the options "disable delay processing" and "enable synchronous surface lock" enabled.
I need either these options enabled to record with Nvidia SLI Surround.

Where is the slow down occurring when using these options? Is it at CPU or GPU level?

could be the issue right there, for 7680 x 1440 (or 2560x1440) that could be too slow when using lagarith (I'm assuming RGB).

Thanks Malix

I'm using lagarith YUY2 and YV12 and also tried all the ut codecs with the same results. Arma 3 is the only game i'm having issues with while recording 2560x1440 with SLI (scaled down to 1080). All the other games I have record fine with DXtory in SLI and don't need to use disable delay processing or sync surface lock.

When i turn off "disable delay processing" and "enable synchronous surface lock", DXtory works perfect without any performance hit. But because I'm running SLI, the Arma 3 output video is stuttered, similar to what happened at this thread. When i turn either of those settings on, the video is good but performance goes down the drain, ie 19 FPS while recording.

Another strange thing I've noticed is that the option "force CPU processing" gives slightly better (2-3) frames than having delay processing or sync surface lock on, and the video playback is normal.

DXtory doesn't seem to handle Arma 3 + multi-gpu very well.
