« on: April 19, 2014, 03:19:35 pm »
I have the lagarith lossless codec and I'm uploading around a 1 min video and it takes up to 3 hours and minecraft is really slow while it is uploading? Is this normal or do I have to do something? Thanks

Being a gaming content creator consists of the following steps:

1. Recording the gameplay footage.
2. Edit the footage with a video editor such as apply some cuts, volume adjustments, transitions, music, effects, texts, post-commentary, etc.
3. Encode(Render) the video into a YouTube friendly format and size.

You probably are skipping both 2nd and 3rd step, as result you are trying to upload a massive raw footage.

After you record your video it's going to have pretty crazy size. Lagarith YV12 size is the most reasonable one in comparison to other codecs but even then it's pretty massive. You must "encode"(also known as "export" or "render") your video into YouTube friendly format and size. YouTube have already provided the guidelines with what settings you should encode your videos here: YouTube - Advanced Encoding Settings.

1. Get a video editor, either something free like Windows Movie Maker or something paid like Adobe Premiere Elements or Sony Movie Studio.
2. Import your recorded video into the video editor, and apply some edits if you need any such as transitions, cuts, effects, text, adjusting volume, etc.
3. Render the video in H.264 codec(.MP4 container, bitrate should be depending on your Internet speed. Around 10 Mbps if you have slow internet speed. Around 40 Mbps if you have fast internet speed. Simply following earlier linked encoding guidelines.

Alternatively you could use a lite software such as Handbrake, though you will have to find a video editor one way or another if you will want to create best quality content.

I personally recommend using MeGui, especially if you don't edit your videos.

Though if you are really new and don't know much about encoding/cutting etc, the easiest method would be to record in an Encoded format, x264,
This however is generally not recommended, especially not if you are encoding it directly for youtube without re-encoding (you will need to use low bitrate and settings),
but it's good for someone who is new and may trigger some learning experience.
