I would like to know if there is a way I can get better recording frames without sacrificing too much video quality. The current quality stutters a lot but doesn't seem to dip below 25fps. I would like to stay around 1280x720 resolution if at all possible. My HDD has around 95mb/s transfer speed and my enviornment is posted below. Any help would be appreciated.

I will give you the standard recommendations.

For Video Codec, use UT Video Codec 4:2:0 rec709 with Optimize for Decoding and set to 2 Threads.
Or try MagicYUV a new Codec developed to be as fast as possible when Decoding, but luckily is fast at Encoding to,
this you will also have to set to YV12 (4:2:0, just another name), and Rec709 (which is defaulted i think).

There is also Lagarith, this should however ONLY be used in Pixel games (NES,GameBoy,SNES etc), and it should be recorded as RGB.
It should Only be used there. You can use them elsewhere, but it's not worth the performance loss. And also it records in Rec.601 instead of Rec.709, which is not recommended for HD (It has to do with Colors).

Audio you should use PCM 16bit Mono/Stereo for Mic/System.  Not sure about Surround Sound.

You should Record to a Separate Disk, Not the same as the Game or System.

With your System, you should be able to Record 1080p 30fps with said setup at Games that works well.

I don't recommend recording and downscaling (1080p -> 720p) for many reasons, avoid that at all costs, the only benefit is if you Really don't have enough Space or Process power to keep up (And you should have this).

Hope this helps:)
