Video replay stutters

I recorded a video and then replay it using VLC media player.
For whatever reason the video "stutters",stops for a second or two,then continues,then stops again etc
Any idea what went wrong ?

without any knowledge of your selected codec or anything; I'd guess it is VLC's fault. VLC (and pretty much any player) has issues playing large lossless videos.

If it is not that, is your harddisk fast enough to record with the quality you have selected? It could be dropping frames.
