I just recently got Dxtory, and I have a regular frame rate when I'm playing, but the video's frame rate drops to 15 fps. Can anyone help?

Please help.

ExKoder

It seems that the speed of storage is slow.

eothingas

Do you know how I can speed it up?

HonorguyXNL

As far as I can see you never benchmarked your HDD/SSD in Dxtory as it says "Speed 0 mb/s" plz do this and it'll probably be fixed.

1920x1080 120fps RGB capture would require ~711MB/s writing speed for the harddisk, I don't think benchmarking it will make a difference. use lower fps settings and/or resolution

eothingas

What does RGB mean and do? Because I heard that it can slow things down, I didn't select it for Fraps and it runs fine so maybe I just need to un-select RGB. I tried using lower fps and it didn't make a difference.
But, when I switched to 720p it ran perfectly. Is there a way to run it on 1080p? Because that's one of the main reasons I bought this software. Thanks for the help though :D Hopefully you can help more :)
One final thing though, I tried recording, and when I put it into adobe premiere, my microphone audio wasn't there. Do you have any idea how to fix that?

eothingas

Scratch that. In 720p the file says that I am getting more than 30fps but, there is stuttering in the video, and a lot of it.

use dxtory to benchmark your recording disk for write speed.

I'm guessing that your recording disk is a usb drive? if so, try  recording to an actual harddisk in your computer. USB devices are usually painfully slow and are not suitable for video capture (unless you tone down the settings to the lowest possible).

also, media players (vlc, windows media player, etc) USUALLY don't play recorded footage too well, it seems to stutter quite alot for me too. but after I edit & encode to my publishing format it plays just fine.

Also, that 120fps recording you used is very much excessive, imo. Unless of course you are doing some slow-mo stuff.
In any case, if you publish your videos on youtube or such, these services downsample your video to a maximum of 30 fps anyway.

edit:
forgot your previous post, so here goes:

RGB stands for "Red, Green, Blue", the 3 colorcomponents used to display stuff on computer screens. In this case, it's just a way to store colordata, in RGB it's just copying it from screen as is. Other colorspaces like yuv, yv and whatnot store colors differently and require dxtory or the codec to translate from on screen RGB to whatever you might have chosen. during this translation some color data might change slightly, so some colors like reds, yellows, blues, might not be exactly as you saw them on screen, but close.
Some color spaces need less data to store the colors, so yuv422 for instance is somewhat smaller compared to rgb, though also a bit worse in terms of quality but for most of us it doesn't make a noticeable difference.

Also, I have not used premiere ever, but I've seen few threads about it here. The microphone audio track should probably be extracted from the video, no idea how though :P
