MP4 file format should be an option. .AVI file are just infuriating when trying to convert them to mp4 despite if the game footage is say 30 seconds or 30 minutes MP4 files are easy to work with and there is no issues that arise. I enjoy using Dxtory because there is no FPS drop, the interface is easy to use, and works with games that are old and new.I really wish that the MP4 file format was there so I am able to upload video to YouTube as .avi files are not recognized on the site or even when I'm trying to edit them if Dxtory can make an update that support the file format this would be superb

Thank you

avi is much more compatible than anything else.

except you put h.264 compressed video into it ..

using a lossless for vfw spec designed codec not only gives better quality - it also is the fastest and most compatible way.

Also lossless avi files are the fastest for editing as well, since the cpu doesnt have to consider all the decoding of bframes and so on.

avi and mp4 are container formats, both can contain wide variety of different video/audio streams (eg. codecs).
Just by having .mp4 -container doesn't make the recorded video magically work straight away with youtube.
